4- Pulse Overdrive: Decoupling Data Rate from Pulse Width for Superior Telemetry
Traditionally, in MWD telemetry, pulse width and data rate have been directly linked, meaning that increasing one would proportionally affect the other. This created a tradeoff: operators had to choose between higher data rates or stronger received pulse amplitudes.
With Pulse Overdrive on MicroPulse, this limitation is removed. Pulse Overdrive allows data rate and pulse width to be independently controlled, meaning you can maintain high data rates without sacrificing pulse amplitude at the surface.
Key Benefits of Pulse Overdrive:
- Sustained Data Rates at Greater Depths: Pulse Overdrive allows operators to maintain high data rates longer by widening the pulse without reducing the transmission speed.
- Eliminates the Need for Slower Downlinking: Instead of reducing data rates to improve signal clarity, operators can increase the Pulse Overdrive percentage, which extends pulse width while keeping the same data rate.
- Configurable for Maximum Efficiency: Operators can select from 0% to 100% Pulse Overdrive in Eclipse Touch, adjusting pulse width dynamically based on well conditions.
By eliminating the traditional tradeoff between data rate and signal strength, Pulse Overdrive enables faster, more reliable telemetry, giving operators the ability to drill deeper and telemeter faster without interruptions.
5- Empowering Customers with Better Easy To Use Tools
Every time you downlink is a big chance for improvement. We're constantly working with the customers to push farther and decode faster and deeper all the time. Our goal is to push decoding efficiency to the point where customers can finish a well without even thinking about it. By continuously refining our decoding strategies, we’re ensuring that customers can maintain speed and efficiency without worrying about signal reliability.
Decoding performance it’s also about user experience, we make the system very easy to use and easy to get the data out of so that the customers can be successful with all the basic setup and troubleshooting. Our powerful tools give customers insight into their signal health and decoding performance:
- FFT and Spectrogram Features: Shows how the signal and the transmission line of the mud pumps have been changing over time. This allows our customers to self-diagnose and identify the sources of noise, providing them with certainty and confidence.
- Manual Sync Feature: It’s a way of of doing human-assisted decoding—where a human can actually help the system out the moment it encounters a challenge—saving a lot of time that way. We capture all that data in the moment when the customer helps the decoding out and then we use that for further improvement in training. Our customers are also actively helping us make the system better to the long run.
